Nutmeg

This spice has some wonderful properties ... it's an anti-oxidant, with disease preventing and health promoting properties. Nutmeg has been used for many therapeutic applications in many traditional medicines as an anti-fungal remedy, an anti-depressant, an aphrodisiac, as an aid to improve digestion and for carminative functions (helps prevent formation of gas).

Cinnamon

Not only does it taste wonderful, it has been used as an effective home remedy for reducing blood sugar levels and treating Type 2 Diabetes, lowering cholesterol, aiding digestion, treating diarrhea, reducing arthritis pain, boosting memory / cognitive functions, treating toothaches, eliminating bad breath, easing headaches and migraine pain.
I love to use cinnamon on cereals and in smoothies ... it's a wonderful flavourful and a healthy addition to the foods I love.

Turmeric

A principal ingredient of curry, this spice superstar has many powerful health benefits including brain health, heart health, cancer prevention qualities and anti-inflammatory properties.

Curry

Curry powder is not one spice, it is actually a mixture of spices of widely varying composition based on Asian cuisine.
Some of the health benefits of curry include reducing inflammation of the joints, protection from cancer, protection from heart disease and protection from Alzheimer’s disease.

Cayenne pepper

This spice has a high concentration of a substance called capsaicin. Capsaicin has been widely studied for its pain-reducing effects, its cardiovascular benefits, and its ability to help prevent ulcers.
Cayenne peppers are also an excellent source of vitamin A, through its concentration of pro-vitamin A carotenoids including beta-carotene. Beta-carotene is not only a potent antioxidant in its own right, but can be converted in the body to vitamin A, a nutrient essential for the health of all epithelial tissues (the tissues that line all body cavities including the respiratory, gastrointestinal and reproductive tracts). Beta-carotene may therefore be helpful in reducing the symptoms of asthma, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. In addition, its antioxidant activity make it useful in preventing the free radical damage that can lead to atherosclerosis, colon cancer, and diabetic complications, like nerve damage and heart disease.
